Security Council voted for an immediate ceasefire and in an uncharacteristic move, the U.S. abstained from the vote, isolating Israel. However, a newly discovered letter from the Rebbe, penned on the day after Shushan Purim 1980, offers valuable insights into navigating such challenges.
This letter was translated and annotated by Sichos in English in connection with their upcoming “Make Peace.” under the Yonah Press imprint. It addresses a similar situation in 1980, when the U.S. voted in favor of a U.N. resolution condemning Israel. The Rebbe drew parallels to the Purim story, praising the Jewish people’s resolve to “gather together and stand up for their lives,” just as Mordechai stood strong against Haman.
