For tens of years, Chabad in Israel has been bringing yiddishkeit to the soldiers in the IDF, the Israeli Police, and the security forces. Both in times of peace and in times of war, chassidim traveled to army bases and police stations, outposts and border crossings, to bring tefillin, a smile and an encouraging word.
During the weeks preceding a yom tov, the activities expand, with mivtza shofar and lulav in Tishrei, mivtza Chanuka in Kislev and the other mivtzoim in their proper seasons.
Now, just a week before the Kinus Hashluchim, Tzeirei Agudas Chabad of Israel is sending out two new couples on shlichus specifically for the security forces. The new shluchim are Rabbi & Mrs. Michoel Glukowsky and Rabbi & Mrs. Yosef Yitzchak Siegal.
Their appointment comes as once again, the IDF and security forces are on high alert, and are in the need more than ever for an encouraging word, a smile, and a chance to do a mitzvah.
