Mrs. Miriam Rosenblum, who served a shlucha and educator in Pittsburgh for over five decades, passed away on Wednesday, 23 Kislev, 5781.

She was 78 years old.

Mrs. Rosenblum was born to her parents R’ Nochum and Sara Relka Wolosow in Soviet Russia. At a young age, she escaped the Soviet Union with her parents, living in Paris for a number of years before moving to the United States and settling in Crown Heights.

In 1961, she married Rabbi Ephraim Rosenblum who passed away earlier this year. Shortly after their marriage, the young couple presented the Rebbe with a list of several rabbinic posts that the young scholar had been offered around the United States and Canada. The Rebbe advised them to settle in Pittsburgh, Pa., where, in a life of community service spanning the next five decades, they became an integral part of the Steel City’s thriving Jewish community and its educational institutions.

She was known for her dedication to the Rebbe’s mivtzaim. For decades, she used to go herself to give out pamphlets and Shabbos candles in front of a supermarket.

She is survived by her children Mrs. Fraidy Gurevitch – Crown Heights; Mrs. Rivky Raices – Skokie, Illinois; Rabbi Yossi Rosenblum – Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Mrs. Chanie Baron – Columbia, Maryland; Rabbi Yehoshua Dovid Rosenblum – Caracas, Venezuela; Rabbi Mendy Rosenblum – South Hills, Pennsylvania; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her siblings: Rabbi Yosef Yitzchok Wolosow – Ramat Yishai, Eretz Yisroel, Rabbi Mendel Wolosow – Crown Heights, Rabbi Hershel Wolosow – Sharon, MA and Mrs. Tzippy Simpson – Crown Heights.

The funeral will take place in New York tomorrow, Thursday, passing 770 Eastern Parkway at 12:00pm on the way to burial at the Old Montefiore Cemetery in Queens.

The family will remain in NY until after Shabbos, returning to Pittsburgh on Sunday. Details on Shiva to follow.
