A year after the tragic passing of 9-year-old Hershel Weinberger, his family has launched a mitzvah campaign in his memory, encouraging others to share a short dvar Torah and a mitzvah suggestion to bring Moshiach.

“Last year on Hey Av, our 9-year-old son Hershel passed away. This tragedy was hard not just for our family and friends but for the entire Chicago community and many beyond,” Hershel’s mother, Mrs. Sarah Leah Weinberger said.

“Hershel was the kind of kid to make jokes and keep everyone smiling. This past year has been a long year with ups and downs, plastered-on smiles, and milestones passing with a piece of my heart not there with us,” she said. “I don’t know of a single parent who wouldn’t prefer their child in their arms, whether the child is one month old or fifty years old.”

Knowing of the power of mitzvos for the elevation of a neshama, the family launched the campaign, to elevate the neshama of their precious son.

In addition, with the firm belief that each mitzvah brings us closer to the coming of Moshiach, the campaign is to hasten the coming of Moshiach, when all of our loved ones, including Hershel, will be back here with us.

The campaign released a short dvar Torah paired with a small mitzvah suggestion to bring Moshiach. The dvar Torah and message were translated into many languages, to allow anyone to read and share in whichever language they are most comfortable.

“In order to share the world of the campaign as widely as possible, please share the image on any and every social media platform you can,” the family requested.
