A massive Iranian ballistic missile carrying a heavy 450-kilogram warhead struck a Gerrer neighborhood in the southern city of Arad on Motzei Shabbos.

The missile bypassed interception and struck an open area surrounded by four-story residential buildings.

The blast caused extensive damage to at least three buildings, sparking a fire on the fourth floor of one building and leaving people trapped inside.

Magen David Adom declared a mass casualty event as rescue forces rushed to the scene. Between 75 and 88 people were injured in the strike, though Boruch Hashem, there were zero fatalities from this or any of the rocket attacks across the country.

The Southern District police commander highlighted the open miracle: “The impact was between the buildings. It’s a miracle it didn’t hit a building directly.”

Still, the blast wave caused severe injuries. “We evacuated children in serious condition,” the police commander stated.

An MDA spokesperson confirmed treating “a 5-year-old girl in serious condition, 11 injured in moderate condition, and several others with light injuries.” The vast majority of the light injuries were individuals treated for shock.

Arad Mayor Yair Maayan announced that between 100 and 150 families will need to be evacuated from their homes due to the destruction.

Prior to the strike in Arad, Iran fired multiple missile barrages at nearby Dimona throughout Shabbos and Motzei Shabbos, resulting in at least 12 impact sites.

Iran’s state-affiliated Tasnim news agency claimed the launches were to avenge an alleged attack on the Natanz uranium enrichment site earlier on Shabbos, as well as a previously reported strike at the Bushehr nuclear power plant.

One of the missiles in Dimona scored a direct hit on a residential building, injuring at least 51 people.

A 12-year-old boy was seriously injured, and a woman in her 30s was moderately injured. The remaining victims suffered light injuries consisting mostly of shock or minor injuries from falling while running to shelters.

Earlier on Shabbos morning, a splitting Iranian missile described as a cluster bomb struck 11 different locations in central Israel’s Rishon LeZion. One of the direct hits struck a kindergarten, causing heavy damage to the structure. In another open miracle, because it was Shabbos, the kindergarten was completely empty, and the reinforced safe room remained entirely intact. Only one light injury—a man in his 40s suffering from shock—was reported in the city.

Separately, 18-year-old Yehuda Shmuel Sherman, H’yd, from Elon Moreh, was murdered in a car-ramming terror attack near the yishuv of Homesh on Shabbos.

Yehuda and his brother, Daniel, were rammed by a Palestinian terrorist. Yehuda was critically injured and later pronounced deceased at Meir Medical Center, while his brother remains hospitalized in moderate condition.

“We are facing a murderous and barbaric enemy whose goal is to kill Jews and expel them from their land,” said Shomron Regional Council head Yossi Dagan.

The IDF carried out widespread retaliatory strikes over Shabbos. The Israeli Air Force struck dozens of weapons manufacturing and storage facilities inside Iran, as well as ballistic missile launch sites, hitting more than 200 targets overall between the Iranian regime and Hezbollah.
