The 50th birthday of mashpia Rabbi Osher Farkash was celebrated in grand style in the Chabad Yeshiva of Buenos Aires over the past weekend.

Rabbi Farkash serves as the mashpia roshi of the Yeshivas Lubavitch Buenos Aires in Argentina, as well as a mashpia for the local Chabad community. His shiurim are renowned for their clarity and depth, and his Hebrew and Spanish language shiurim are recorded and listened to around the world.

On Thursday night, the bochurim from the yeshiva gathered with the hanhala and members of the local community for a farbrengen celebrating the birthday. Joining the farbrengen was his brother mashpia Rabbi Zalman Farkash and Argentina Head Shliach Rabbi Tzvi Grunblatt, both of whom led the farbrengen for a short amount of time.

A fully catered meal, with fish and meat courses, was arranged for the farbrengen, and the bochurim hung up a large sign wishing Rabbi Farkash a happy birthday, and humorously noting that the Hebrew year, תשפ”א, forms a acronym for Tihei Shnas Osher Farkash.

During the farbrengen, which continued until 4:00 AM, the bochurim presented Rabbi Farkash with a gift of seforim as well as a custom-made brthday cake, upon which was a miniature figure sitting by a table and ‘farbrenging’.
