Lubavitcher Ilan Fuchs has been elected Mayor of the Village of Pomona in Rockland County, NY which boasts a large and growing Chabad population.

Ilan Fuchs, a Lubavitcher resident of Pomona, NY, has been elected Mayor of Pomona in a landslide election victory.
Fuchs was elected alongside Joel Grunwald and Raanan Zidile who will be joining the Village’s Board of Trustees, along Lubavitcher Mendy Lasker and Moshe Greenberg. Each member is elected to a four-year term.
Fuchs is a professor at American Military University and a scholar of international law and legal history. He holds a Ph.D. in Law from Bar-Ilan University law school. He teaches courses in international public law, legal theory, Jewish law, Jewish History and Middle Eastern History.
Following his election victory, Fuchs thanked all those who voted for him and pledged to continue to serve the community.
“We won by a large majority, thanks to all your help,” he said. “Thanks to the Eibishter for the opportunity to serve the community. Thank you to every man and woman who came out to vote.”
The village of Pomona boasts a large and growing Chabad population with multiple Chabad Shuls and schools.
