Knesset Resolution Affirms Jewish Right to All of Eretz Yisroel

On Wednesday morning, the Knesset voted 71–in favor of a resolution affirming the Jewish People’s “natural, historical, and legal right” to all parts of Eretz Yisrael  and that Yehuda, Shomron, and the Jordan Valley are “an inseparable part of the Land of Israel.”

The resolution also opposed the establishment of a Palestinian state, citing October 7 as evidence, and called for the application of Israeli sovereignty, law, jurisdiction, and administration in Jewish communities throughout those areas.

Thirteen MKs voted against – all from Arab parties and “the Democrats” led by Yair Golan. Members of Yesh Atid and Kachol Lavan were absent.

United Torah Judaism supported the resolution. MK Meir Porush, who encouraged his party to vote in favor, said: “This is an important step that, if implemented, will greatly improve the lives of residents in Jewish communities throughout Yehuda and Shomron. I looked into the matter, and my conclusion was simple: Eretz Yisrael was given to us by Hashem.”

“The Land of Israel belongs to the People of Israel,” Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana (Likud) said. “In 1967, the occupation did not begin; it ended, and our homeland was returned to its rightful owners.”

The resolution – which also referenced Torah sources for the Jewish people’s claim to the land – is a non-binding motion and does not immediately change legal status or enforce annexation, but it sends a strong political message, placing public pressure on the government to formally apply sovereignty.

This is a resolution long overdue. For decades, the Rebbe called upon Israeli leadership to formally and publicly recognize that the entirety of Eretz Yisroel – including Yehudah and Shomron – is the eternal land of the Jewish people, by virtue of the Creator who gifted it to them, as clearly stated in Torah. This recognition, the Rebbe said, is the strongest claim to the land, the best response to foreign pressure, and the most effective deterrent against terrorism and those seeking to harm us.

Now that the government has formally recognized that the entirety belongs to the Jewish people, it is the appropriate time to formally apply sovereignty and settle the lands, as the Rebbe repeatedly called for.

At a Purim farbrengen of 5738 (1978), the Rebbe said:

“The State must actively support the efforts of all Jews who wish to settle in Yehuda and Shomron. This process can be accomplished overnight, requiring just a few hours to complete…

“Now, with the full resources and authority of the state at their disposal, they can achieve this goal even more effectively – not as a temporary measure, but as a (permanent) settlement in the manner described by the Torah… Given the swiftness with which this settlement can be established, no external pressure can hinder implementation…

“This is the only strategy that the international community will take seriously; they will recognize the genuine commitment and conviction behind Israel’s actions in settling the Land. Once we have taken action, they will have no choice but to accept it.”

  1. Eretz Yisroel – including Yehudah and Shomron – is the eternal land of the Jewish people, by virtue of the Creator who gifted it to them, as clearly stated in Torah. ”

    Should be front and center in the declaration

  2. Long overdue;
    to be precise since 1922
    when all members of The League of Nations (the predecessor of The United Nations) approved “ from the River(Jordan)
    to the (Mediterranean) Sea “ is a National Home for The Jews
    That remains in force today under international law
