On a cold winter evening, over 1,000 people gathered at the JCC, transforming the space with chassidishe warmth and a vibrant spirit of achdus. This was a first-of-its-kind event that Kingston had experienced, as the entire anash community – men, women, and children – came together to celebrate Yud Tes Kislev.
The evening was designed with families in mind. While parents enjoyed a beautifully served three-course dinner, hundreds of children participated in a special kids’ program.
Emceed by Rabbi Mendy Majeski, the program opened with a siyum on Sefer HaTanya by Rabbi Gedalia Oberlander, who highlighted how this profound sefer concludes with practical guidance for daily life. Visiting shliach and author Rabbi David Eliezrie delivered a moving keynote, speaking about the power of Tanya and the mesiras nefesh of the Frierdiker Rebbe, leaving the crowd inspired and uplifted.
Musician R’ Avremi Hershkop played heartfelt niggunim, accompanied by Chazan Rabbi Yossi Baumgarten, moving the crowd from reflective moments to joyous celebration. A beautiful rendition of “Tzomo L’cha” was performed by Mendy and Schneur Rivkin, adding a soulful highlight to the evening.
The night was a true expression of achdus, with participation from Bais Moshe Noach, Deli Minyan, Cheder Sheini, Bais Tzvi Yosef, Bais Dov, Ahavat Achim Luzerne, Cheder Menachem Kingston, and Mesivta Tzvi Yosef.
The farbrengen for men continued late into the night at Bais Moshe with Rabbi David Eliezrie, where he shared many stories and practical inspiration for 19 Kislev.
Thank you to everyone who made this extraordinary evening a reality. A special and heartfelt appreciation goes to the organizing Vaad, which coordinated the event from beginning to end, overseeing every detail with care. Sincere thanks to all sponsors, donors, and volunteers who made this event possible.
