Just in time for Pesach, the Anash community in Kingston, PA, has opened a large new shul and supermarket to serve the growing community.

As is known, Kingston is the fastest growing Anash community, with around 250 families, most of whom have moved to Kingston in the last 4 years. New families are consistently moving in, and the mosdos are working to keep up. In addition, many out-of-town guests frequent the shul, especially during vacation times.

The Beis Moshe shul, which serves as the main Anash shul and houses the men’s mikvah, opened just 4 years ago and has since exceeded its capacity. Numerous minyanim crowd the space during the week, and there is standing room only on Shabbos. A second minyan, which started in the deli sit-down room (hence known as the “Deli Minyan”), has maxed out the building’s large basement.

The shul building also housed a big Kosher supermarket, established by activist R’ Motti Hershkop. When the building was purchased, the plan was to hold the space until it would be needed for the shul. That time came faster than imagined.

In a major expansion, a new huge supermarket was built a few minutes’ drive away, which will provide a bigger and better experience. At the same time, the supermarket space will now serve as a grand shul.

On Yud Alef Nissan, the community dedicated the vacant space with mincha and a lchaim. For Pesach, the yet unfinished hall will begin to be used regularly. The original shul will provide a larger space for the “Deli Minyan,” while the basement will accommodate the children.

“Boruch Hashem we were able to dedicate this new shul as a gift to the Rebbe on Yud Alef Nissan,” says community activist and founder of Beis Moshe, R’ Mendel Hershkop. “We look forward to renovating the shul and expanding it further to glorify the house of Hashem!”
