In combat to the common “summer slide”, which is the tendency for students to lose some of their learnt skills over the summer. This can particularly affect young students’ Kriah, giving an extra challenge to beginning school the following year.

To not only keep their learning fresh but also improve their skills, the Nigri Jewish Online School offered a free Kriah hotline to all students as well as Kriah camp. Kriah was made lego themed, creating a super engaging and exciting opportunity for students to keep up with their reading, while playing with legos.

“It can be a big challenge engaging students in Kriah exercises,” said director Morah Noa-Miriam Truxton. “I loved coming up with new and exciting activities that will make them look forward to practicing their reading every day.”

The students logged on for two weeks of classes for thirty minutes a day, even bringing their legos to class with them so they could build while they read and show off their creations.

“Our son literally jumped for joy when I told him the theme of Kriah Camp was legos,” wrote parent E.R. “Thank you for planning such wonderful programming for our children!”

The Nigri Jewish Online School, sister school to Nigri Shluchim Online School caters to Jewish children worldwide who don’t have access to Jewish education or prefer online learning.
