120 children from the Chabad-run orphanage in Zhytomyr, Ukraine who had fled the war in their home country landed safely in Israel early Sunday morning.

Prime Minister Naftali Bennett along with several government ministers were on hand to welcome Rabbi Shlomo Wilhelm, Chief Rabbi of Zhytomyr and Western Ukraine, and about 120 orphans from the orphanage he runs.

Working day and night, Rabbi Wilhelm managed to evacuate women and children from Zhytomyr and the surrounding areas. First escaping across the border to Romania and now finally to Israel.

The flights from Romania to Israel were arranged by Chabad in conjunction with Israel’s Immigration and Absorption Ministry, which is streamlining the immigration and absorption process for the new immigrants.

Shluchim in Eretz Yisroel are working tirelessly to make sure that they are placed in a kosher environment and get the same chinuch they got in Ukraine.

The children will remain in Israel until the situation in Ukraine is safe enough for them.
