Israel’s Minister of Heritage Rabbi Amichai Eliyahu addressed anash and bochurim in 770 on Sunday while on a New York visit.

The minister, a grandson of Rishon Letzion and Sefardic Chief Rabbi of Israel Harav Mordechai Eliyahu a”h, started his US visit with a stop at the Rebbe’s Ohel.

He was accompanied by his advisor R’ Yossi Goldberger and Crown Heights activist Rabbi Lazer Avtzon, who coordinated the visit.

He then traveled to Crown Heights, where he was welcomed at the Oholei Torah Yeshiva, the Jewish Children’s Museum, and the Rebbe’s library. He also met with Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky, vice chairman of Merkos L’inyonei Chinuch.

Towards evening, Minister Eliyahu visited 770, where he davened in the Rebbe’s room and then went to the main shul where he davened ma’ariv.

He then was invited to address the gathered bochurim and anash. He spoke of the special connection his grandfather had with the Rebbe, and of his efforts for shleimus ha’aretz.

After his speech, which was warmly received by the crowd, a video presentation of Harav Eliyahu’s visit to the Rebbe was shown.
