In response to many Israeli bochurim asking about returning to Crown Heights, the management of the 1414 dormitory put out a letter detailing the steps necessary to reopen.

“We are in touch with doctors, the Israeli Health Ministry, and other institutions in an attempt to find out when we could reopen. As of now there is no clear answer,” said the letter, signed by Rabbi Sholom Ber Brod.

Bochurim will only be allowed back with a note from a doctor saying that they had the virus and recovered. Barring that, the dormitory will not allow them back in. Any bochur who tries entering the dormitory without permission, will be expelled from the yeshiva, and may lose his affidavit.

“I request that anyone thinking of returning should send in their names, and when they plan on returning. Once I have a clearer picture, I will be able to plan the next steps,” Rabbi Brod said.

The letter comes as the bochurim who remained in Crown Heights are slowly being allowed back into the main zal of 770 to learn. Just last night, however, the Crown Heights Beis Din released a letter asking that visitors not come to the community. It is unclear if their letter applies to Kevutzah bochurim as well.
