Hundreds of bochurim from Lubavitcher Yeshivos across the country gathered in Crown Heights on Yud Shevat for the Vehogisa Mivchan Kloli, an intensive test covering Gemara material studied throughout the year.
The exam drew participants from yeshivos nationwide. Bochurim who excel in the test receive recognition and prizes, encouraging serious engagement with the curriculum.
But the test serves a deeper purpose than simply measuring how much bochurim remember.
Rabbi Yosef Silverman, tireless and dedicated Menahel of the program, explains that following each test, expert Mechanchim and מגידי שיעור meet to analyze results, categorizing areas that are B”H working well and what most needs focus. Then the מגידי שיעור adjust their approach, and test writers begin crafting the next assessment.
“The test is designed so that the maggid shiur and bochur together can identify which skills he excels in and which require additional work. This allows them to customize the program and focus efforts precisely where the Talmid needs support”.
Vehogisa is a comprehensive program spanning all Lubavitcher Yeshivos, ensuring that every bochur has the tools needed to succeed in their learning. Through weekly shiurim with leading מגידי שיעור, comprehensive study materials, regular assessments, and ongoing mentorship, Vehogisa follows a bochur from year to year in each yeshiva he attends, helping him maintain and build on his growth while providing consistent support throughout his yeshiva years.
Rather than a one-size-fits-all approach, Vehogisa adapts to meet each bochur where he is. The program provides clear learning goals, expert shiurim tailored to different levels, and individualized attention to help each bochur reach his potential.
Over the past year, a team in the good offices of Merkos Suite 302 under the leadership of Rabbi Mendy Kotlarsky, together with Igud Yeshivos Lubavitch, headed by Rabbi Mendel Itzinger, worked to expertly revamp this program, which is fast becoming a cornerstone of yeshiva life, providing every bochur with the resources, guidance, and support to maximize their learning and reach their full potential.
As Rabbi Mendy Kotlarsky said: “We’re committed to helping each Bochur become the Tomim the Rebbe wants – giving the Rebbe true nachas by becoming Chassidim Yerei Shomayim and Lamdonim.”
