The recent additions to the clearance section in the Kehos showroom include a selection of flawless seforim for bargain prices.

The Kehos showroom on Eastern Parkway has, for the past few years, used their basement as the clearance section. There, one might expect to find old editions of seforim, books with damaged spines or missing pages, or perhaps a set missing one of its volumes.

Just recently, however, Kehos added a new list of books to clearance, among them many flawless books that were simply sitting on the shelf for too long. Among the newly-added books, there are seforim on Halacha, Chassidus, biographies of chassidim and many other selections for cheaper than a sandwich in the bagel shop down the street.

Browsing the selection, one can find Avnei Chein – Shaalos U’Tshuvos, a full book of Halachic Responsa by Rabbis of the illustrious Chein family for less than five dollars. A book detailing the lives of Rabbi Aharon Eliezer Ceitlin, and his son, Rabbi Yehoshua Heshel Ceitlin, goes for cheaper than $4.50. Reb Alter Simchovitch’s glosses on Tanya has a price tag of $2.99, and the biography of Rabbi Levi Bistritzky sells for even less.

A Kehos employee explained to Anash.org that while usually only defective or old books are put on clearance, during a recent inventory review, they had realized that some books sold very slowly, and they found that selling them for rock-bottom prices would be more worth it, simply to clear up space.

Another welcome addition is the option to purchase the closeout selections online. Until recently, one had to visit the store to take advantage of the clearance and closeouts, but with the new webpage, one can purchase them from wherever one may live.
