Students, supporters, rabbonim, residents and guests gathered on Sunday to celebrate the groundbreaking for a new campus for the Bais Rivkah Seminary in Crown Heights.
The celebration, held on Gimmel Tammuz, marked the start of the new project which hopes to bring to fruition the desperately needed expansion for the Bais Rivkah seminary.
Following the official ceremony, which included speeches by Rabbi Efraim Mintz, member of the school’s Vaad Ruchni, Rabbi Yitzchok Raitport, Rabbi Yosef Chaim Kantor, Rabbi Avrohom Shemtov, and others, participants then gathered for the ceremonious “groundbreaking”.
In honor of the occasion, the shovel used by the Rebbe at the groundbreaking for the expansion of 770 in 5748 was brought out, and each supporter shoveled some dirt onto the rock with the special shovel.
The groundbreaking represents a new phase in the development of Bais Rivkah, which has recently been implementing a number of changes in response to the growing needs of the school and the community. Over the past summer, the school appointed a new Va’ad Ruchni, giving them full jurisdiction over matters related to chinuch and the school’s spiritual growth. In parallel, the board has been working on enhancing the physical aspect of the school, and the new campus is just the first step in the upcoming plans for the school.
