Bochurim and Crown Heights residents gathered on Thursday night to mark the yahrzeit of Harav Yisroel Abuhatzeira, the Morrocan mekubal known as the ‘Baba Sali’.
The hilula celebration was organized by a great-grandson of the mekubal, who is currently learning in the 770 yeshiva. Joining him were fellow students and members of the community of Moroccan descent.
Moroccan piyutim and music accompanied the celebration, culminating in joyous dancing at the conclusion of the official program.
This year’s hilula for Baba Sali z”l, as well as all previous hilulas for Baba Sali z”l in Crown Heights, was organized and sponsored by Baba Sali’s grand daughter Mrs Chana Lipsker.
