In response to recent challenges affecting families and children in our communities, Mrs. Baila Steinberg, an experienced intervention specialist and educator from Montreal, Canada, is offering a no-charge “Parenting Hotline” exclusively for Shluchim.

The confidential service will provide advice, guidance, and emotional support on issues relating to children, chinuch, family life, and community dynamics – whether concerning a Shliach’s own family or members of their community, all free of charge.

Mrs. Steinberg brings over 19 years of experience working with families, educators, and communities across 15 cities, 50 schools, and 4 countries, helping children and adolescents integrate successfully in school, home, and social environments. Her practical tools and frameworks focus on developing inner strength, resilience, identity, and emotional stability – all deeply grounded in Torah values and Chassidus.

Before establishing her private practice in Montreal nearly two decades ago, Mrs. Steinberg spent over 20 years working for Rabbi Motti (Mordechai) Berger a”h, a Shliach in Ottawa, Canada, where she gained firsthand understanding of life on Shlichus and the challenges faced by their families.

Since returning to Montreal, she has worked extensively in this area of support across all communities, ages, and stages – in private practice, on Zoom, and in person — for nearly two decades. Her son, Rabbi Shuki (Yehoshua) Steinberg, serves as principal of the boys’ division of the Shluchim Online School.

“Shluchim carry so much on their shoulders – it’s vital they have somewhere to turn for perspective, reassurance, and professional support,” Mrs. Steinberg shared. “Sometimes a short conversation and practical direction can make a world of difference.”

Her background includes training in Behavior Modification Intervention, Cognitive Modifiability, Group Dynamics, Peer Integration, and Executive Function skills. She works with both children and parents worldwide through Zoom and in-person consultations.

Shluchim can reach out to Mrs. Steinberg directly to discuss questions or concerns confidentially and receive practical, compassionate guidance.

To access the Parenting Hotline or schedule a consultation, contact Mrs. Baila Steinberg via WhatsApp at 514-244-9660 and leave a voice note or text message.

We appreciate your feedback. If you have any additional information to contribute to this article, it will be added below.

  1. I think its also important that shluchim be provided with access to medical assistance.

For example a 24H primary care physician who can perscribe medication.

Realize that even in non 3rd world countries the quality and accessability to medicine is far from what its like in the US.

When a young Yeshiva bocher is sent away from his shlichus to learn in a Mesivta on a different continent, and who boards from one host to the next, who exactly has the forsight to pair the boy with a physician. How does he even get medication if needed. Shluchim dont purchase seperate health insurance plans for each contry each child visits. Nobody can be at fault because thats just the way shluchim’s lives are setup.

And this becomes more difficult as physicians are opressed with regulation that blocks them from practcing outside of their state borders, even via telehealth.

I really think shluchim should be provided with membership to expat / nomad medical assistance organizations who have the know how to ship US quality medication internationally.

Nobody should be made to be hesitant to make a phone call to a physician just because he cant get the help he needs in his home country.

The office could also mail newlywed shluchim with material that can educate some basic medical knowlege so that should C”V a young shliach couple experience something, such as symptoms of sholom bayis, they could unerstand what is happening to them and already made to know which treatments are available.

    Available – and accessible.

  2. Sorry, to be clear, when I said that “others” can reach out, I was referring to the fact that others “outside of Shluchim” can also reach out. No one will be turned away!!
