A small crowd recited Selichos late Motzei Shabbos in the Shul that is in the Ohel of the Alter Rebbe in Haditch, Ukraine, just a few days after marking the Alter Rebbe’s birthday on Chai Elul in the same location.
The small crowd stood in stark contrast to previous years, where hundreds spent Chai Elul in Haditch, and dozens remained for Shabbos Selichos.
Shliach to Haditch Rabbi Shneur Zalman Deitch told Anash.org that they are focusing on helping locals.
“Although the outbreak of the virus and the ‘shutting of the skies’ prevented most visitors from coming, we committed ourselves to redoubling our efforts with the local community,” he said. “We are offering seminars and classes in preparation for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur prayers, as well as assistance to families with their Yom Tov needs.”
