First Class of New Smicha Program is Open to the Public

The first-semester of “Lema’an Yilmedu” semicha program, an interactive, text-based class with Rabbi Zushe Wilhelm will begin tomorow in Crown Heights.

The first semester of the Lema’an Yilmedu smicha program is beginning in Crown Heights.

As you’ve likely heard, Rabbi Zushe Wilhelm has established the program to enable English speakers to learn and earn smicha. To this end, program staff have been working on translating the relevant Shulchan Aruch into English, while also working on summaries, charts and review questions — all in English.

The program was especially prepared for working people who are interested in integrating halacha study into their busy days. The program includes two weekly classes throughout the year. At year’s end, the students will receive their smicha certificates, signed by five prominent Chabad rabbonim:

Rabbi Yosef Yeshaya Braun — Mara De’asra and member of the Crown Heights Beis Din, Rabbi Dovid Refoel Banon — Member of the Montreal Beis Din, and a Dayan of the Montreal Lubavitch community, Rabbi Yochanan Gurary — Rabbi of Cholon, Eretz Yisrael, and member of Beis Din Rabbonei Chabad in Eretz Yisroel, Rabbi Gavriel Tzinner — Posek, and author of the well-known set: Nit’ei Gavriel, and Rabbi Dovid Schochet — Rabbi of the Toronto Lubavitch community and President of the Toronto Rabbinical Council.

The first Crown Heights class will take place this coming tomorrow 09.3.2020, at 7:30 pm. The Machon has decided to open the class to those who are interested in the program, and would like to see a class, the study material, and the program for themselves.

To participate in this class, please fill out this form.
