Fathers Join Kita Aleph for Breishis Siyum Celebration
On Sunday, fathers of the talmidim in Rabbi Yisroel Menkes’ Kita Aleph class at YTTL Montreal came to the Yeshivah to spend meaningful, quality time with their sons and celebrate a Siyum on Parshas Bereishis.
On Sunday, 12 Adar, the fathers of the talmidim in Rabbi Yisroel Menkes’ Kita Aleph class at YTTL – Montreal came to the Yeshivah to spend meaningful, quality time with their sons and celebrate a Siyum on Parshas Bereishis.
The program began with the boys proudly demonstrating to their fathers how well they can review the entire first perek of Chumash Bereishis directly from the Chumash. The fathers were able to see firsthand the tremendous effort, growth, and progress their sons have made through their hard work and learning.
Reflecting on the milestone, one father shared: “It was a pleasure to see how far our children have come and the swiftness they were able to get all the answers right by the game show and the fluency they were able to truck through reading Perek Aleph in Chumash. Our children have grown so much and they were so well behaved. They are in great hands.”
The learning then continued with a special father-and-son activity. Together, they completed a worksheet reviewing the Chumash material the boys have learned so far this year in first grade. This was followed by an exciting Chumash game on the projector that brought energy, enthusiasm, and smiles from both the fathers and the boys.
Another parent noted the special atmosphere: “The Chayos and Geshmak the boys had in saying the Chumash together was palpable. Their Geshmak actually brought more Nachas than how well they knew it, which was flawless. Also, you were able to see during the game how they were rooting for each other and trying to help each other out, they were happy when their friends got the right answer. It was a great vibe all around! Shkoiach!!”
The program concluded with a delicious pizza lunch enjoyed by everyone. A special thank you goes to the parents who generously helped sponsor the pizza.
Beyond the learning and activities, what made the program truly special was seeing fathers take time out of their busy schedules to come to the Yeshivah and spend meaningful, quality time learning with their sons. In today’s fast-paced world, these moments of sitting together, learning together, and celebrating together are incredibly valuable.
As one father summed it up: “Spending time together with my son in his classroom was one of the most impactful experiences I have had, I hope we can do it again!”
The boys clearly felt the pride and encouragement of their fathers, strengthening the special bond between them. Much of the success of the program reflects the dedication of Rabbi Menkes, who puts tremendous heart, energy, and creativity into his class. Rabbi Menkes works hard to make learning meaningful and enjoyable, bringing excitement and fun into the classroom while helping each student grow in their learning and Yiddishkeit. His enthusiasm and care for his talmidim are clearly felt by both the boys and their families.
It was a heartwarming sight to see fathers and sons sharing in the joy of Torah together. The experience gave the talmidim a strong sense of pride and encouragement in the effort and dedication they have invested throughout the year.
