Ahead of Gimmel Tammuz, a meaningful Farbrengen program entitled “Defying All Odds” is set to take place in 110 cities worldwide, highlighting the Rebbe’s focus on every individual’s capacity to be a ‘lamplighter’ for their surroundings.

Ahead of Gimmel Tammuz, a meaningful Farbrengen program entitled Defying All Odds is set to take place in 110 cities worldwide. Created by CYP International at Merkos 302, the event is being made available for all Shluchim to use.

As the 30th anniversary of Gimmel Tammuz approaches, Shluchim are looking for ways to create a meaningful experience for their communities. CYP at Merkos 302 has created a customizable Farbrengen event with interactive discussion points, stories, video presentations, and marketing materials to aid shluchim and their community members in creating a meaningful Gimmel Tammuz experience.

“Gimmel Tammuz is a day of Hiskashrus to the Rebbe, an opportunity for the whole community to connect with The Rebbe’s teachings,” says Rabbi Beryl Frankel, Director of CYP International at Merkos 302. “This program provides tools to create a meaningful Gimmel Tammuz farbrengen experience, ensuring everyone in the Chabad house can relate to its importance, and take the Rebbe’s call into their lives.”

The program’s theme highlights the Rebbe’s focus on every individual’s capacity to be a ‘lamplighter’ for their surroundings. Every Jew has an essential role to play in the communal mission to make the world a better place, and the Rebbe made every Jew he interacted with feel responsible and empowered to play that role.

“The Rebbe constantly emphasized the importance of every Jew being a Shliach,” explains Rabbi Mendy Kotlarsky, executive director of Merkos 302. “We hope this event not only enables communities to mark Gimmel Tammuz meaningfully but transform all attendees into ambassadors feeling uplifted and empowered to bring Yiddishkeit to their circles of influence.”

Any Farbrengen is only complete with a chassidishe nigun, so the sample schedule includes a video presentation explaining the meaning behind niggun Shamil. This enables a community whose members may not be familiar with the songs, to experience the depth of a true chassidic gathering.

A video presentation by JEM titled “Share the Light” brings this message home. Hearing from real people’s first-hand experiences interacting with the Rebbe and the transformational impact it had on their lives is sure to inspire and bring the messages to life.

The program includes talking points designed to facilitate personal discussions and lead to practical resolutions for increased Torah learning and Mitzvos.
