Crown Heights residents will once again have the opportunity to fulfill the beloved minhag of Kaporos at an affordable price, thanks to the National Committee for the Furtherance of Jewish Education (NCFJE) and generous donors.
On Sunday, September 28, and Tuesday, September 30, subsidized Kaporos will be available for just $5 per chicken, making it possible for every member of the community to take part in this cherished tradition before Yom Kippur.
This initiative is generously sponsored by Morris Gad, Rabbi Dovid Fischer, and other benefactors who have stepped up to make Kaporos accessible to all. Their goal is simple: to ensure that financial constraints do not prevent anyone from keeping this minhag with dignity.
The Kaporos will take place on Eastern Parkway as well as East Flatbush & Remsen Village. Community leaders are encouraging men, women, and children to participate, bring their families, and take advantage of the subsidy. NCFJE has long been at the forefront of making Tishrei observances easier for Crown Heights residents, and this year is no exception. These prices are available cash on site.
“Keeping our minhagim alive is vital,” said Rabbi Shea Hecht of NCFJE. “With everything getting more expensive, we are thrilled to make Kaporos affordable for everyone.”
NCFJE retains ownership of the chickens and your donation allows you the right to use them for the Kaporos ritual. Email [email protected] with any and all questions.
Each year, those so called ‘animal rights activists’ try to make a fuss…
So what we need to know, is the truth
The truth al pi torah
Is that tzaar baalei chaim is always important,
And nevertheless, the torah commanded us with the mitzvah of shechita.
Shechita is the most humane way to take the life of an ankmal
Anyone trying to claim things like ; how can u kill it? Its alive..
And try to make up their own morality, are imposters.
People conjuring their own sets of values, not based on god, is very dangerous
We know it, because we went through a holocaust
What are the hours?
