Crown Heights Hatzalah Building is Moving Full Speed Ahead

With major site-clearance work now underway, Hatzalah of Crown Heights is moving closer to demolition and the construction of its future headquarters, a secure new home for ambulances, equipment, and lifesaving operations.

Just this morning, National Grid completed the disconnection of gas service to the street at the site of Hatzalah of Crown Heights’ future headquarters, and Con Edison is expected to follow with the electrical disconnection within the coming week.

This latest steps come on the heels of several recent milestones. All tenants have finally been successfully removed from the property, marking the final step in a process that required months of legal proceedings and patience. The final corner store on the property has now been vacated, and a new construction fence has been erected around the entire site, setting the stage to move full steam ahead b’ezras Hashem.

Demolition plans are currently under final review, and b’ezras Hashem, demo permits are expected to be in hand within the next three to four weeks. Once permits are secured, the existing structures will come down, making way for the new construction of our state of the art headquarters.

This facility will provide what Hatzalah of Crown Heights desperately needs: a secure, centralized home for our ambulances, equipment, and operations. A place where vehicles are housed safely indoors, where members can train and restock vital oxygen and medical supplies without delay. A place where life saving equipment and medications are properly stored in a climate controlled environment and our growing team of volunteers has the professional resources they need to continue serving our shchunah at the highest level.

This week’s shocking arson attack on Hatzolah ambulances in London, where four emergency vehicles were deliberately set ablaze, is a painful reminder of how vulnerable our lifesaving infrastructure can be when left exposed. The need and urgency for a permanent, secure home for our fleet and operations has never been greater.

Hatzalah of Crown Heights has always been there for the community. Now, as we enter this exciting and critical phase, the community’s continued support will ensure we can be there for generations to come.
