High school girls watched and learned directly from the Rebbe for the first time over four weeks in the new Connection Point High program.
Connection Point is a JEM initiative in collaboration with Tzivos Hashem which encourages elementary school students to watch and listen to the Rebbe, and provides the tools necessary for them to understand the Rebbe directly. This year, over 3500 students are enrolled.
Seeking to grow the program, Rabbi Levi Plotkin, Connection Point Director, launched Connection Point High, an upgraded version of the program for girls high schools. The first round, which ran in seven schools, was a smashing success.
Over four weeks, the girls experienced the Rebbe’s farbrengen of Yud Shvat 5731 (1971), watching and learning most of the farbrengen, which includes a beautiful talk about women.
Mrs. Esther Rochel Moscowitz, principal of Lubavitch Girls High School in Chicago, reported that the girls really took to the program. “Some girls who were absent for one of the viewings asked if I can show it again just for them. They actually came on their own time during lunch break.”
A global essay competition was run in all the schools for girls to write what they learned from the Rebbe. The judges for the competition were: Mrs. Sara Blau – Extracurricular Director of Beis Rivkah High School, Mrs. Rivkah Slonim – Education Director at Chabad of Binghamton University, and Rabbi Elkanah Shmotkin – Executive Director of Jewish Educational Media.
The winner will be announced next week.
After taking part in the program, a student from Yeshiva Girls High School Pittsburgh said, “first time I actually understood the Rebbe and learned a lesson from what he was saying. Good question system and motivational prize.”
“With Hashem’s help, the next round will be before Shavuos, and the girls will watch a talk from the Kinus N’shei Ubnos Chabad,” said Rabbi Plotkin. “We are accepting twelve schools for that round.”
