Chof Av Marked in Pittsburgh With Multiple Events

The Chabad community in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania gathered for special events for adults, children, and seniors, in honor of the yahrzeit of Harav Levi Yitzchok Schneerson.

The Chabad community in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania was treated to special events in honor of the yahrzeit of the Rebbe’s father Harav Levi Yitzchok Schneerson. Shluchim, under the leadership of Rabbi Yisroel Rosenfeld, organized events for adults, children, and seniors.

On Wednesday night, the eve of Chof Av, an inspiring and spirited farbrengen took place. Bringing together Anash of Pittsburgh for niggunim, L’chaim, and a fleishig buffet.

Among those farbrenging and sharing stories and words of inspiration were Head Shliach and Moro D’asra Rabbi Yisroel Rosenfeld and mashpi’im Rabbi Yosef Itkin, Rabbi Yosef Deren and Rabbi Yisroel Altein. Those in attendance were also treated to recollections of a visit to Alma Aty by Dr. Avrohom Heubner.

On Thursday morning, attendees of Kolel Tiferes Levi Yitzchak gathered for their first annual brunch. The kolel for seniors was established last year in memory of the Rebbe’s father and is run by Rabbi Chaim Itkin. The attendees were treated to a bagel and wrap brunch and a farbrengen led by Rabbi Yosef Itkin.

Thursday evening, the children of the community were treated to a grand Tzivos Hashem rally, with Pizza and popsicles. Together with MC Mendel “der baal menagen” Markel, the children sang niggunim, recited the 12 pesukim, and heard about the significance of the special day and the mesiras nefesh of the Rebbe’s father to make sure other Yidden could continue to learn Torah and do Mitzvos.

The children then watched a video about Chof Av and heard a story from master storyteller, Rabbi Yehuda Shomer, and were treated to a grand raffle.
