Chof Av in Alma Ata, Kazakhstan, began with the dedication of a new Sefer Torah, marking the yahrzeit of Harav Levi Yitzchok Schneerson in the city where he is buried.
The celebration was held with the participation of the local shluchim and community, together with hundreds of guests who had traveled from New York, Eretz Yisroel, and other locations around the globe to mark the Rebbe’s father’s yahrzeit.
The guests from New York joined the siyum right after arriving from their flight, and partook in the festive hakafos and a seudas mitzvah.
Following the siyum, the guests headed to the Ohel of Harav Levi Yiztchok, where they wrote panim and davened. They then sat down for a Chof Av farbrengen in the tents set up near the Ohel.
