This year, Igud Hamelamdim is adding an exciting component to its annual teacher training course: first-tier mechanech Rabbi Michoel Gourarie will be joining as a presenter.
If you are one of the 80 teachers who have already been trained as part of Igud Hamelamdim’s 30 hour teaching course, you know what all the excitement is about.
3 years ago, Igud Hamelamdim set out to provide a comprehensive course given by the top mechanchim in the field and producing substantive, tangible results. Since its inception, the course has earned the praise of teachers and principals for its time-honored methods, lucid delivery, and down-to-earth guidance.
Many graduates of the course have already taken up positions in schools around the country, and their enthusiastic accounts of how the course has helped them speak for themselves.
“Rabbi Rottenberg,” began a letter from a teacher who completed the course in Iyar 5777, “I would like to thank you for all you taught me. With your binder at my side, the new workbook on Mishnayos Mesechta Rosh Hashana was created. While learning the Mesechta with my class I could see the difference in the new skills my talmidim were gaining.”
“Making sure that EVERY boy feels like part of the class and is engaged in the learning experience has resulted in much fewer disturbances,” wrote another. “Furthermore, because each boy felt part of the class, it encouraged and motivated each of them to know and learn more, according to his ability.”
An exciting addition is being made to this year’s course. As in past years, renowned principal Rabbi Mechel Rottenberg will give his dynamic and practical training that has put so many mechanchim and their students on the path to success. New for this year, the program will also include Rabbi Michoel Gourarie of Bina Institute in Sydney, Australia, a veteran mechanech and noted expert in the Rebbe’s approach to chinuch.
“Rabbi Gourarie was involved in chinuch with all different ages as a mechanech and a menahel,” says Rabbi Motti Hadar of Johannesburg, South Africa. “He is familiar with all of the Rebbe’s sichos and knows how to apply them practically in the classroom and beyond. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking to further their chinuch skills.”
Rabbi Levi Milecki of Sydney adds, “His presentations are informative, organized, practical and engaging. His courses are a great investment for any moised chinuch.”
This year’s 30 hour course will run from Monday, 19 Tammuz through Sunday, 3 Menachem Av. Sessions will take place on Sundays and weekday evenings and will:
- Highlight the fundamentals of teaching, coupled with the presenters’ own experiences, all with engaging, lucid delivery.
- Put special emphasis on the Rebbe’s approach in learning and discipline, and all aspects of being a mechanech from A to Z.
- Include follow up coaching.
