Chabad Niagara Falls USA hosted a spectacular Chanukah celebration, featuring a public Menorah lighting that drew a diverse crowd of community members, dignitaries, and international tourists. The event, held in the heart of Niagara Falls State Park, was a vibrant display of unity and joy during the Festival of Lights.
The highlight of the evening was the lighting of the grand Menorah, symbolizing the resilience and hope embodied by Chanukah. The ceremony was led by Niagara Falls, NY shliach Rabbi Yehuda Lorber, with special guests including the Mayor of the City of Niagara Falls Hon. Robert Restaino and other city and state officials, who shared inspiring messages of community and togetherness.
Participants enjoyed traditional Chanukah treats like crispy latkes and sweet donuts, as well as lively music that added to the festive atmosphere. Visitors to the region joined in, making the celebration a uniquely inclusive experience that highlighted the universal message of light triumphing over darkness.
Rabbi Lorber expressed his gratitude for the support of the local and state government and the enthusiastic participation of the community. “The Menorah’s light reminds us that even in the darkest and coldest moments, a small flame can illuminate and warm up the world. Our Menorah can even be seen internationally by our Canadian neighbors across the Falls” he said. In interviews with members of the media, Rabbi Lorber shared the Rebbe’s message, encouraging the nations of the world to uphold the 7 Noahide Laws and to engage in acts of goodness and kindness, helping to prepare humanity for the ultimate redemption.
Five public Menorah were placed around Niagara Falls, including outside City Hall, by the US-Canada border, at Niagara Falls International Airport, at the Official Visitor Center, and of course at Niagara Falls State Park – the oldest state park in the United States.
This annual celebration – together with the public Menorahs around town – has become a cherished tradition in Niagara Falls, bringing Jewish pride and joy to locals and visitors who share in the meaning of Chanukah. Through events like this, Chabad Niagara Falls USA continues to spread warmth and light, ensuring that Jewish heritage is celebrated openly and proudly.
