Major Ezzy Morgenstern, a Chabad chossid who serves in the Israeli army, has recently concluded a successful speaking tour in Chicago, captivating audiences with his journey from Yeshiva to the front lines of the Israeli military. His series of talks, titled “From Chabad Yeshiva to Major in the Israeli Army: Finding Your Personal Shlichus in This World,” details his life-changing experiences and deep spiritual missions he discovered along the way.
The tour, organized by the Lubavitch Mesivta of Chicago, covered a wide array of venues, including the Siyum Harambam, a farbrengen at the Yeshiva, several schools and Chabad houses across the city, and Shabbos in West Bloomfield, Michigan. R’ Ezzy engaged with students from both Chabad and non-Chabad boys and girls schools, shared insights with young professionals, and even navigated a protest at a campus event.
Throughout his talks, he shared personal stories from his service in the 2004 Lebanon War, his role as an engineer in the reserves, his recent call-up during the current conflict, and the remarkable story of getting a Tanya printed in Gaza. His message emphasizes the universal Chassidic mission of finding one’s personal shlichus, or purpose, in every action and place.
Major Morgenstern is now headed to New York for his son’s Bar Mitzvah, and will be available for speaking engagements from April 17-30. This is an excellent opportunity for communities to hear firsthand from a soldier-chossid what it is like to serve in some of the most challenging environments.
