A group of firefighters traveled from Eretz Yisroel to help battle the fires raging throughout California. Chabad was on hand with kosher food and words of encouragement.

The state of California is currently battling several major fires, making for the worst fires crisis in the state’s recorded history.

A team of 10 Israeli firefighters flew to California to assist in the firefighting efforts. They landed at San Francisco International Airport on Sunday morning, and immediately prepared to get to work

It’s the first time Israelis have been deployed to fight fires on the ground in the United States, according to Shlomi Kofman, Israel’s S.F.-based consul general.

Hearing of the arrival of the firefighters, Chabad of NorCal sprung into action, making sure the Israeli’s spiritual needs were met as well. The shluchim made sure they had kosher familiar Israeli food to eat, and spoke to the firefighters with words of encouragement and inspiration, and thanked them for their efforts and assistance in saving lives.
