This week, EL AL Airlines launched non-stop service between Fort Lauderdale – Hollywood International Airport and Tel Aviv. They also inaugurated a permanent tefillin stand for Jewish travelers flying with EL AL or any other airline.

Rabbi Yosef Rapp of Chabad of the Airport flew in from NY to officiate at the grand opening. Rabbi Rapp shared words of blessing and Tehillim for the safety of the travelers and Jews everywhere, particularly in Eretz Yisroel.

“EL AL has been a lifeline for Jews traveling to and from Eretz Yisroel during these difficult months,” Rabbi Rapp told Anash.org. “And we are proud to partner with them in opening this new location – both for EL AL and for Chabad Air.”

Rabbi Rapp helped affix Mezuzos to the El Al offices and opened the tefillin stand that will service Jewish travelers throughout Fort Lauderdale airport.

Other notable dignitaries at the inaugural event included Simon Newton-Smith, senior vice president of The Americas for ELAL, Maor Elbaz-Starinski, the Consul General of Israel based in Miami, and many Broward officials including Mark Gale, FLL airport president and CEO, County Administrator Monica Cepero, and Commissioner Mark Bogen, who said he has been an EL AL customer since 2019. Stacy Ritter, president and CEO of Visit Lauderdale was also there and vowed to support the airline and its newly inaugurated service.
