A frightening incident took place when a young boy darted into the Eastern Parkway service lane across from 770, narrowly avoiding being struck by a passing car.
The driver, who spoke to Anash.org shortly after the incident, said the boy was fine. “Boruch Hashem, I was only going 12 miles an hour.” The vehicle came to a stop just in time, sparing what could have been a serious accident.
It is critical for both pedestrians to be extremely cautious when stepping out between parked cars. Children should be taught to look carefully, or better yet, cross at the crosswalk. Drivers must be on alert for pedestrians stepping out, especially in busier areas.

This is no joke, a boy was recently killed on Albany ave. Every time I crossed Eastern Pkwy this month cars had to short stop to avoid hitting bochurim. Extremely dangerous, how hard is it to wait a few seconds for the light to change?! A huge chilul hashem!
The city making it legal to j walk probably made a increase unfortunately.
