On Monday night, leil Gimmel Tammuz, two prominent farbrengens took place in Boro Park led by guests from Eretz Yisroel: mashpia Reb Mendel Vechter, and the Bishtina Rebbe, Reb Yisachar Ber Leifer.
On Monday night, leil Gimmel Tammuz, two prominent farbrengens took place in Boro Park in honor of the Rebbe’s thirtieth yahrtzeit. Both were led by special guests from Eretz Yisroel.
The first farbrengen, at the Beis Menachem shul, was led by Reb Mendel Vechter, a mashpia and Rosh Kolel in Nachlas Har Chabad, drawing a large crowd. Harav Vechter grew up in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and was niskarev to Chassidus Chabad after learning with Reb Yoel Kahn in the late 70s. Facing opposition in the US, he was forced to relocate to Eretz Yisroel.
The second farbrengen was led by the Bishtina Rebbe, Reb Yisachar Ber Leifer, a scion of the Nadvorna Chassidic dynasty, who leads a community of chassidim in Petach Tikvah. He studies Chabad Chassidus extensively, leads farbrengens on Lubavitch yomei d’pagara, and considers himself a chossid of the Rebbe.
The farbrengen was held at the Nei’mas Hachaim shul on 46th Street, where the Bishtina Rebbe shared teachings of the Rebbe, stories, and Chabad nigunim. Joining the farbrengen was Rabbi Moshe Klein of Crown Heights, who served the Rebbe after the stroke, and shared various stories of the Rebbe.
