Monday was a historic day for the Jewish community of Panama when a group of 12 shluchim arrived to open the country’s new yeshiva.

The new yeshiva has opened this year to help serve the needs of Panama’s vibrant and growing Jewish community. Modeled after the yeshiva in Caracas Venezuela, the shluchim will learn and work with the community.

As the new shluchim arrived on Monday evening, they were greeted at the airport by members of the Jewish community with joyous singing and dancing.

The yeshiva is headed by Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Mendy Shuchat, under the leadership of shliach to Panama Rabbi Ahron Leib Laine.
