Bnos Menachem of Crown Heights celebrated its 6th annual melava malka on Motzei Shabbos, with addresses by parents and guest speaker Rabbi Shloime Chein of S. Cruz, California.
Bnos Menachem School celebrated its 6th annual Melava Malka, Motzei Shabbos Kodesh, Parshas Vayigash.
Generally, the purpose of the Melava Malka is to bring the whole Bnos Menachem family together, for a night of achdus and inspiration.
In the spirit of Hakhel, there was a special emphasis to encourage maximum participation. The Razag Ballroom was filled to capacity with parents and staff of the school.
Rabbi Yosef Simpson, the co-director of Bnos Menachem opened the program with a warm welcome and reminded the audience of the Hakhel message of Yiras Hashem. The emcee of the evening, Rabbi Zalmy Loewenthal, graced the podium and shared examples of his personal pride, being a Bnos Menachem parent. He was followed by Rabbi Moshe Silman, menahel of Oholei Torah Mesivta, who encouraged practical fulfillment of the Rebbe’s directive in Hayom Yom to think about the chinuch of children 30 minutes a day. Rabbi Silman shared his hakaras hatov for Bnos Menachem, where he has a daughter enrolled in every department of the school.
Yossi Cohen and the Kapelye choir sang beautiful nigunim and created a lebedik atmosphere. A lavish buffet was served.
The guest speaker, Shliach of the Rebbe to S. Cruz, California, Rabbi Shloime Chein, captured the audience with his eloquent delivery of how to practically live with Moshiach and how to educate our children with love and wholesomeness. He brought to life a beautiful sicha of the Rebbe and skillfully applied it to our lives by weaving colorful stories and vivid anecdotes. His words were empowering and uplifting and made everyone present feel proud to be a chosid of the Rebbe.
Following Rabbi Chein, Rabbi Fitz Rabin spoke, encouraging all parents to mirror the Alter Rebbe’s mindset, so it becomes easier to partner with the school when Bnos Menachem relies on parents and supporters for further growth and improvement. The evening concluded with Rabbi Shmary Gurary drawing raffles and 3 lucky winners won valuable prizes.
There was tremendous appreciation for the school administration and devoted staff, expressed by the many guests who attended.
As the Rebbe told us to gather in the year of Hakhel, may this event bring brachos to the whole community and may we see the ultimate Hakhel, with the Geulah Hoamitis Vhashlaima, Moshiach Now.
