Former Israeli defense minister and alternate prime minister Benny Gantz, who is visiting New York, donned tefillin in a Mitzvah Tank on Broadway on Friday.
Gantz, who currently serves as the chair of the ‘National Unity’ party, is considered a top contender for the position of Prime Minister in Israel.
He is visiting New York to attend the annual Celebrate Israel Parade on Sunday, and to attend the Jerusalem Post conference.
While in Manhattan on Friday, he was recognized by Lubavitcher bochurim who were manning a mitzvah tank headed by Rabbi Yehuda Pevzner. They invited him in to don tefillin, and he gladly agreed to do so.
