Baal Menagen Releases Lubavitch ‘Shoshanas Yaakov’
A new rendition of the Chabad “Shoshanas Yaakov” niggun, was released by Baal Menagen R’ Mendel Markel in honor of Purim.
In honor of Purim, Baal Menagen R’ Mendel Markel has released a new rendition of the Chabad “Shoshanas Yaakov” niggun.
The joyful melody traces its origins to chassidim of the Alter Rebbe, who composed it as an upbeat but intricate tune. The nigun was sung by the choir of bochurim from Yeshivas Tomchei Temimim in Lubavitch during the days of Purim.
On Yud-Tes Kislev, the choir would also sing the tune with special words connected to the day’s celebration, including phrases such as “Shoshanas Chassidim” with expressions marking the Alter Rebbe’s geulah.
At the Purim farbrengen of 5740 (1980), the Rebbe asked for the niggun to be sung.
“Shoshanas Yaakov” appears as Niggun #54 in Sefer Haniggunim.

Thank you Rabbi Markel for producing this nigun.
Have you tweaked it somewhat?
I don’t remember it being sung 100% completely that way and am wondering which version is more accurate.
Where can I find an original recording of this nigun?
Thanks.
Isn’t there another one from Charitonov?
