R’ Avi Taub, a chossid of the Rebbe who was active in helping to bring Jews close to Yiddishkeit and Chassidus, passed away Sunday evening, 29 Tishrei.
He was 68 years old.
Avi was born in Natanya, Eretz Yisroel, in 5711/1951 and became frum in the 70s. He merited great kiruvim and brochos from the Rebbe. He was a strong supporter of the Chabad Mitzvah Tanks in Eretz Yisroel, among other projects.
In the 80s and 90s, he traveled several times to the Soviet Union – together with yblch”t Rabbi Dovid Nachshon – to bring Yiddishkeit to the yidden there. Once there, they located and repaired many of the resting places of the Tzaddikim, talmidim of the Baal Shem Tov and of his talmidim, including the resting places of our Rebbeim.
In recent years, with the Rebbe’s brochos, Avi had been active in the diamond exploration business in Chaifa.
He leaves behind a wife and three sons, Yosef Yitzchok, Menachem Mendel, and Moshe Chaim.
