After 40 Days, Kosel Reopens to Visitors on Isru Chag

Following the temporary ceasefire with Iran, the Kosel plaza, which was limited to visitors for the last 40 days, was reopened, as thousands of mispalelim have been streaming to daven at the Kosel.

Following an extended period during which gathering restrictions were imposed at the Kosel plaza, on Isru Chag (Thursday), with the change in defense policy and updated Home Front Command guidelines, the Kosel plaza has returned to full activity.

From the early morning hours, thousands of mispalelim have been streaming to the Kosel, after a prolonged period in which entry was limited to just 50 people at any given time.

The many mispalelim offered thanks for the miracles, alongside tefilos for the well-being of the soldiers and security forces, for the recovery of the wounded, and for the peace and security in Eretz Yisroel.

The tefillin-laying station at the entrance to the men’s section reopened as well. Also, the Western Wall Tunnels sites have reopened for the benefit of visitors. Tickets for individuals and groups can be reserved via the Foundation’s website or by phone at *5958.

In a statement, Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz, Rabbi of the Western Wall and Holy Sites, said, “It is moving to see the Jewish nation, in all its diversity, once again streaming to the Western Wall Plaza – the beating heart of the Jewish people – after an extended period of restrictions. We invite the entire public to return and visit this holy site, to offer prayers, and to explore the Western Wall Tunnels as well. The return of thousands expresses, more than anything, the deep need that became evident during the days of fighting to allow for an expansion in the number of worshippers, carried out responsibly and within an appropriate framework, for the benefit of the public.”
