Advanced Halacha Program Launched for Zals

“Aliba Dehilchesa,” an all-new Halacha curriculum based on the Alter Rebbe’s Shulchan Aruch geared for Zal Bochurim and beyond, is now being made available to the public.

Introducing אליבא דהלכתא, an all-new Halacha curriculum based on the Alter Rebbe’s Shulchan Aruch. It is geared for advanced learners such as Zal Bochurim and older.

Why is Aliba Dehilchesa so important?

Zalman is a very motivated Zal Bochur, he wakes up every day ready to learn Toras Hashem, he’s academically advanced. Yet during Seder Halacha, he feels he is not utilizing his time.
He’s ready for something more challenging.

“I wish I would know the background of all the Halachos, wouldn’t it be much more Geshmak?”.
“If only I knew how to apply the Halachos to nowadays scenarios”.

Aliba Dehilchesa is here for just that, to provide a thoroughly prepared, advanced Seder Halacha.

What does Aliba Dehilchesa consist of?

Aliba Dehilchesa starts from the very beginning.

For each section of Halachos discussed in the Alter Rebbe’s Shulchan Aruch, Aliba Dehilchesa presents the Gemara where the particular Halachos originate from.

It then follows with the Rishonim (the Rosh, the Ran, the Rif and the Rambam) which have various ways of how to derive the Halacha from the Gemara.

(For those who have extra time, we included the Tur with the Beis Yosef and the Shulchan Aruch Hamechaber with the Nosei Keilim, which provide an even broader and even clearer picture of the Sugya).

After knowing the background of the Halachos from the Gemara and Rishonim, the Alter Rebbe’s Shulchan Aruch is far easier and clearer to understand.

But that’s not all.

At the end of each Siman there is a collection of Shalos U’tshuvos from Poskim, which discuss modern-day scenarios and applications of the related Halachos of the Siman.

For example:

  • Am I allowed to take Tylenol on Shabbos?
  • Am I allowed to use twist-ties on Shabbos, or is it an issue of Koisher (tying)?
  • What’s the proper way to use a crock-pot on Shabbos?

These are just some of the many questions that are all included in the Shalos U’tshuvos section of Aliba Dehilchesa.

All the above – Gemara, Rishonim, Alter Rebbe’s Shulchan Aruch and Shalos U’tshuvos – are all included in a comprehensive, nicely designed Sefer.

Aliba Dehilchesa is designed with a learning schedule that covers approximately 12 Halacha topics over the course of the year, and requires between an hour and an hour and fifteen minutes a day.

Who is “Behind” Aliba Dehilchesa?

Aliba Dehilchesa was initiated and compiled by Rabbi Yakov שי’ Gurwitz, a staff member of the Central Yeshivas Lubavitch – 770.

Aliba Dehilchesa was learned for the first time this year by Bochurim of 770, and it brought a big Geshmak and Koch in Limud HaHalacha, and has proven to bring lots of enthusiasm to the Bochurim’s day of learning.

A group of 770 Bochurim expressed: “If only we had this when we were in Zal, we would be able to learn so much more”. Hence, the idea was born: “Let’s make Aliba Dehilchesa available for all Yeshivos!”.

Aliba Dehilchesa goes International

A tremendous amount of time, energy and money has been invested to provide Aliba Dehilchesa for all Yeshivos, and B’ezras Hashem it will be available for the upcoming Shnas Halimudim – 5783.
The Hanholois of a few Yeshivos throughout the world were already presented with Aliba Dehilchesa and have expressed amazement and enthusiasm on bringing it to their Yeshivos.

“As we are constantly improving our Yeshiva, Seder Halacha is something we have been looking for for a while and we are very excited to try out Aliba Dehilchesa”. – said Rabbi Deitsch, Menahel of Oholei Torah Zal Shiur Alef and Beis.

Rabbi Mann from Yeshivas Lubavitch Toronto expressed the following:
“”העניין של לימוד ההלכה ממקורה עד להלכה לפועל, הוא דבר חשוב מאוד. . ובכלל ידוע הקאך של הרבי שיתעסקו בלימוד ההלכה”..

Yeshivos who would like to join and have Aliba Dehilchesa brought to their Yeshiva for the upcoming year, are encouraged to reach out to us.

Discussion
In keeping in line with the Rabbonim's policies for websites, we do not allow comments. However, our Rabbonim have approved of including input on articles of substance (Torah, history, memories etc.)

We appreciate your feedback. If you have any additional information to contribute to this article, it will be added below.

    1. BH we have received numerous requests for it to be available in Seforim stores.

As of now our main focus is as a curriculum (for Yeshivos etc.) so it’s being designed accordingly, divided into many small booklets, etc.

Making a Sefer is something we would definitely invest more in the future, especially since it’s amazing to see the interest of the public to this Inyan.
