30 years after the Rebbe personally handed out a special kovetz to the chasidim, the 8th grade bochurim of Lubavitcher Yeshiva Crown Street dedicated themselves to learning that same kovetz.
This was part of a special Mivtza in preparation for the auspicious day of Chof Ches Sivan, the 80th anniversary of the Rebbe and Rebbetzin’s arrival to the shores of America. The students learned part of the Kovetz Chof Ches Sivan, and were then tested on what they learned.
The boys heard the story of how the Rebbe and Rebbetzin were miraculously saved from Nazi occupied Europe, and how the Rebbe’s arrival in the United States marked the beginning of a new era with the establishment of the 3 umbrella organizations: Merkos L’Inyonei Chinuch, Kehos, and Machne Yisroel.
They also learned Chitas and Rambam as the Rebbe requested, and watched daily videos of the Rebbe.
When Chof Ches Sivan arrived, the 8th graders were rewarded with an elaborate event. They enjoyed a special pizza lunch with a juice bar, salad bar, desserts and more. They also had a great time with different games and activities that were prepared for them.
“With all of their learning, the students worked to develop a feeling of connection to our Rebbe,” organizers said, “When Chof Ches Sivan arrived, they were able to truly celebrate the Rebbe’s arrival to the United States of America.”
