The annual pilgrimage to the Ohel of the renowned chossid Reb Hillel Paritcher, in Kherson, Ukraine, took a special turn this year when a 85 year old decided to act on the inspiration of his visit.

Dozens of Jews from the Kherson region in southern Ukraine visited Reb Hillel’s Ohel this week in honor of his yahrtzeit on Yud Aleph Av.

The group was led by Shliach to Kherson Rabbi Yosef Wolff, who explained to the visitors about Reb Hillel and the significance of davening at his kever, especially in close proximity to his yahrzeit. He also put on Tefillin with the community members prior to visiting the kever.

Among the group was an elderly Jew who had never before put on Tefilin. When meeting him, Rabbi Wolff spoke to him about the mitzvah of tefillin, and convinced him to don them for the first time in his life. The elderly Jew said that he was putting on Tefillin in honor of Reb Hillel.

As previously reported on Anash.org, President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine recently paid a visit to the Chabad House of Rabbi Yossi Wolff, following after is was in Kherson, Ukraine which was firebombed a little over three months ago.
