43 years after the Rebbe called for learning the yesodos of Chassidus, a groundbreaking course aims to do just that.
As anticipation builds for the recently announced Yesodos Belimud Hachassidus course, which begins tommorow, organizers discovered a striking “coincidence”: In the farbrengan of Shabbos Parshas Devarim, 5740 (1980), after elaborating on a topic in Chassidus, the Rebbe concluded the sicha by saying that “most importantly we should be involved in the fundamental and foundational ideas of Chassidus, “di yesodos fun Chassidus”, …”and through spreading your wellsprings (i.e. Chassidus), Moshiach will arrive”.
While it was powerful to note the Rebbe’s call for focusing primarily on the Yesodos of Chassidus, what was especially impactful was when they realized that the date the sicha was delivered was Vov Menachem Av, the exact date 43 years later that the Yesodos course will bez”H launch!
With approximately 24 hours until the course officially kicks off, registration is being extended, giving everyone an opportunity to fulfill the Rebbe’s directive. This first-of-its-kind course, launched leilui nishmas Reb Yoel Kahn OBM, Chief Chozer of the Rebbe and longtime Mashpia in 770, will be led by Rabbi Hertzel Pewzner, Mashpia in Tomchei Temimim Morristown and Co-Author of “The Basics of Chassidus,” and moderated by Rabbi Shmuly Avtzon, Mashpia in 770 and Director of Sichos in English.
The goal of this course is to provide participants with a deep and rich understanding of the core ideas of Chassidus. Each class will feature an overview of that week’s topic, followed by an in-depth analysis, thereby making Limud Hachassidus Beiyun accessible to all. While only a rudimentary background in Chassidus is necessary to join, this course will definitely be appreciated by learners of Chassidus from across the spectrum.
To further empower and maximize growth, a specially tailored collection of primary selections of Maamarim and Sichos along with excerpts of the forthcoming volume of “The Basics of Chassidus”, will be released weekly to course participants. Additionally, participants will have the ability to submit any questions that come up throughout the duration of the course, to be addressed by the magidei shiur.
This all-men course will take place online, allowing participants from around the world to join. Classes will be held on Monday evenings from 7:00 to 8:00 EDT, starting Vov Menachem Av (July 24), concluding Daled Elul (August 21).
