It says in the mishnah (Sanhedrin end of chapter 4) that Adam was created alone in order to teach us that the value of an individual life is like that of an entire world. The mishnah concludes by stating that each person ought to feel that the entire world was created for his sake. Based on this we can say that each individual has to internalize the recognition that wherever he may find himself, if only he utilizes his potential properly, he is as important as an entire world.
יש לומר על פי המשנה סנהדרין סוף פרק ד’: לפיכך נברא אדם
יחידי ללמדך שכל המקיים נפש אחת מישראל כאלו קיים עולם מלא – ומסיימת – לפיכך חייב כל אחד ואחד לומר בשבילי נברא
העולם. כל אחד ואחד תמיד צריך להיות קבוע במחשבתו אשר
חשוב הוא כעולם מלא, ולא רק אדם הראשון, כי אם כל אחד
ואחד בכל עת ובכל מקום, אם רק מנצל כל כחותיו על מלואם,
והרי אין לך אדם שאין לו מקום כו’.
