Over 2000 people attended Bnei Ruven’s three-part Chol Hamoed Sukkos event featuring concerts and cooking demos – all without breaking the law.
Every Sukkos, Bnei Ruven organizes a grand simchas beis hashoeiva under the auspices of Rabbi Boruch Hertz, Rov of Anash. This year, due to COVID-19, plans were changed to include three incredible events on the first day of Chol Hamoed with fun for the entire family.
The day kicked off with Uncle Moishy performing every hour in the afternoon, with each concert followed by a short video, all taking place in a special outdoor tent. Hundreds of kids and their families enjoyed singing along to the singer’s classic songs and many yom tov favorites.
Simultaneously, renowned chef and blogger Esty Wolbe held five cooking demos for women and girls inside the shul, which were sponsored by Jewel Osco. Participants were also treated to floral demonstrations and free food products.
The evening climaxed with popular singer Eli Marcus, who performed in three successive simchas beis hashoeiva concerts, also outdoors.
The event was spearheaded by Yakov Yarmove, Corporate Director of Ethnic Foods at Albertsons Companies, who received a special award from Rabbi Hertz for his remarkable efforts. Also at the organizational head was Rabbi Moshe Markowitz, assistant Rov at Bnei Ruven.
All three parts of the event were all held with complete police backing and in accordance with COVID-19 guidelines and e concert and food demo was limited in capacity, with pre-registration guaranteeing a spot.
“The event was a major kiddush Hashem and kiddush Lubavitch,” Rabbi Hertz told Anash.org. “It as the only strong event in the community that was done completely legally and 100% safely.”
