Ahead of Purim, Shomrim of Crown Heights issued a list of safety tips for Purim to protect children and adults on this day of merrymaking and jubilation. They have also shared advice on double parking in a way that doesn’t trouble others.
1. Don’t drink and drive
Driving under the influence is dangerous and illegal. Purim is no exception.
2. Know your children’s whereabouts and transportation
It is your responsibility to be aware of your child’s whereabouts at all times, and
that they are being driven by a responsible and reliable adult.
3. Remind your children of stranger danger
Don’t accept anything from a stranger, and definitely don’t enter a stranger’s car.
4. No alcohol for minors
Giving alcohol to minors can be dangerous and is against the law.
5. Remind your children of street safety
Don’t walk on the street or cross from between parked cars, they won’t be visible
to oncoming traffic.
6. Drive with extra caution
When driving on Purim, use extra caution, be on the lookout for pedestrians who might emerge from between parked cars.
7. Alcohol poisoning is real
It can be catastrophic, know your limits and drink responsibly.
8. Watch out for fraud
Criminals take advantage of the giving on purim. Remain alert for people trying to
pass counterfeit money. If you suspect something report it immediately.
9. Secure your home
Be aware of who enters your home ,and make sure to secure your valuables.
10. Know who enters your home
If you have an ill feeling about someone, don’t hesitate to have them sent out.
