Crown Heights is home to three kollels, with the most prominent being Kollel Menachem – the flagship Chabad Kollel. Established by the Rebbe in 5722/1962, under the aegis of Machne Israel and the Mazkirus, it has since become a renowned institution of Torah study serving students from around the world under the leadership of Harav Yosef Heller.
In recent years, two smaller kollels opened in the community: Kollel Anash, with Rabbi Michoel Lerner serving as Rosh Kollel; and Kollel L’horah Maasis, with Rabbi Sholom Ber Shuchat serving as Rosh Kollel and Rabbi Shraga Dovid Homnick as S’gan Rosh Kollel.
As thee Elul zman began, the three kollels once again filled with yungeleit who will spend the coming year studying Shulchan Aruch, Gemara and Chassidus.
