Yissachar-Zevulun Program Explodes with Record Participation
What began as a modest initiative has exploded in popularity in its sixth year, with the Yissachar and Zevulun program outgrowing the Yeshiva’s dining room and expanding testing to the Eshel Hotel to accommodate the unprecedented number of participants.
This year too, the Yissachar and Zevulun program opened with extraordinary energy. The preparation was evident right from the beginning of the Kvutza year: every bochur selected a study track and approached his learning with seriousness and dedication.
The monthly test, held on Thursday, revealed the impressive scope of participation. The dining room, which in previous years sufficed for all the bochurim, was filled to capacity. As a result, an additional testing location was opened at the Eshel Hotel, where all participants in the halacha track gathered. In both locations combined, a crowd was recorded unlike anything seen before, with long rows of temimim laboring over the test papers, investing effort and being precise in every detail.
At the end of the week, the monthly distribution took place at 770. Hundreds of bochurim passed through an orderly line and received personal checks for their learning – without raffles and without any extra conditions. Everyone who put in the effort and learned throughout the month left with a respectable stipend in hand; in total, tens of thousands of dollars were distributed.
About the Yissachar – Zevulun Program
The goal of all the learning tracks is to allow each bochur to devote his full time and energy exclusively to Torah study, utilizing every moment of his time in the Central Tomchei Temimim Yeshiva at Beis Moshiach – 770 – without needing to worry about any material matters.
How does it work? Five serious study tracks with year-long goals have been established. Each bochur chooses one track and learns it throughout the month with yishuv hadaas and diligence. At the end of each month, an exam is held, and at the beginning of the following month, every student who passes receives a respectable monetary scholarship – up to $170 – in recognition of his learning. The program is accompanied by a professional team of meshivim, along with well-edited review booklets that make the material accessible to every bochur.
Track One – Chassidus: Focuses on the Hemshech Samech Vov (5666), so that over the course of the year the bochurim complete all the maamarim in the hemshech in order.
Track Two – Halacha: Dedicated to practical halacha, with the entire chelek alef of Shulchan Aruch HaRav learned and reviewed.
Track Three – Hilchos Shabbos: Concentrates on chelek beis of Shulchan Aruch HaRav, ensuring that by year’s end the bochurim emerge with a comprehensive understanding of the halachos of Shabbos in practical halacha.
Track Four – Geula and Moshiach: Focused on geula and Moshiach studies, covering the relevant Likkutei Sichos on geula and Moshiach, arranged by topic.
Track Five – Girsa: The girsa track, with a steady pace of one page a day, so that, with b’ezras Hashem, by the end of the year the entire masechta Bava Kamma together with masechta Makkos will be completed.
The program continues to gain momentum, and Igud Talmidei HaKvutza is already looking ahead to the coming months – anticipating a continued impressive increase in investment and learning.
